Vökuró is an Icelandic lullaby, originally composed by the Icelandic poet, Jakobína Sigurðardóttir, but mostly known by Björk in the mesmerizing choir-arrangement on the album, Medúlla.
A masterpiece beautifully combining choral tradition & modern expressive singing techniques.

VÖKURÓ is Icelandic for wakefullness

Vökuró is as an adults choir for mixed voices (SAB or SATB)

We sing on Monday evenings in Lejre, Midzealand, in Domus Felix.

The repertoire is broad in genre but based on popular music from modern hits to evergreen classics, traditional folk songs, circlesongs & Vocal Painting.
We work with singing techniques, blend and sound, sing in harmony, work with interpretation, expression and singing in different languages.

You must not be able to read sheet music, but will meet when it makes sense according to repertoire and musical style.
There is no audition, but it requires you sing fairly in tune and are able to hold your part along with others.

We have a maximum of 35 participants.

First rehearsal for 25/26 is September 1st.
